Conrad Humphreys has today reached an agreement with Windfall Films to purchase Bounty’s End, the replica 23 foot wooden vessel that was used in the current Channel 4 series, Mutiny. As a professional skipper, Conrad was the sailing master for the hit TV show. After the voyage was completed, Conrad discussed with the owners and Channel 4 about using the boat to create a “living history” legacy project, whereby young people would have the opportunity to sail in the boat and be part of this incredible historical programme.

Conrad and The Island Trust, a charity set up to support young and disadvantaged people with life changing voyages at sea, have agreed to work together on this new initiative called The Bounty Project.

Conrad is doing a series of public lectures about recreating Captain Bligh’s 4000 mile voyage and will be raising funds for The Island Trust to support this new initiative. The funds raised will go towards providing sailing opportunities, school visits, talks and events so that young people can experience some of the magic of Bligh and his most famous voyage in British history.

Conrad said, “To be given the opportunity to take a group of strangers on such an amazing voyage and see how they grew was such an amazing part of this re-creation. I think people will relate to the challenges we all faced and overcome whilst at sea and I want this story to continue whereby young people have the chance to explore, dream and discover the opportunities that sailing and adventure can bring.”

Dick Lloyd MBE, Founder, “The Island Trust is hugely excited about working with our Trustee, Conrad, on this pioneering and unique venture that will enable young people, many of them disadvantaged, to experience the joy and challenge of life on board Bounty’s End. The project will add an extra dimension to our services to young people, who will not only learn about the skills necessary to survive in and navigate this relatively small wooden vessel, but also about the personal skills and attributes required to be part of a successful team – able to motivate ones self and others, and to take responsibility for actions and their consequences.

“We have been proud to watch Conrad inspire and guide the crew during the TV series and we look forward to raising the aspirations and widening the horizons of a new generation of young sailors, to whom he has set such a wonderful example.”

Conrad and The Island Trust have set up a fundraising page which is now open to receive donations. To make a donation and support The Bounty Project please click the link here
